This photo shows the moment a terrified dog was rescued by the RSPCA after being tied up to a gate and abandoned in the middle of a field at night.
The dog was spotted by a member of the public in the field, in Blythe Road, Coleshill, Birmingham, on the evening of Friday, 25 August.
They contacted the RSPCA, and Inspector Mike Scargill attended to rescue the dog, a male Staffordshire bull terrier.

The RSPCA is appealing for information after a pregnant cat was dumped in a black bin bag inside a taped-up pet carrier in a Birmingham street.
A member of the public came across the meowing cat in an alleyway in St Saviours Road, in Birmingham on Wednesday 16 August.
The tortoiseshell cat, thought to only be around seven months’ old, is now recovering at local animal rescue Ashmore Rescue for Cats, where she has been named Maggie.

The RSPCA is appealing for information after a poorly and weak kitten was found abandoned in a ‘Frozen’ shopping bag in a Birmingham park.
A member of the public found the collapsed kitten in Twickenham Park, Kingstanding, on Sunday morning (20 August).
He was collected by the RSPCA and taken to the charity’s Birmingham Animal Hospital. However his condition deteriorated and he died later that day.
