An RSPCA rescue dog who desperately needed life-saving heart surgery is due to star on the small screen in Channel 5’s The Dog Rescuers show presented by Alan Davies this week.

Five-year-old terrier Molly had a heart block, which meant that her heart could not beat properly. Without a pacemaker, the condition would have eventually killed her.

The RSPCA is urging dog-owners to be cautious after nine dogs in the Dunkirk area of Nottingham have been treated for suspected poisoning in the last three weeks.

It is not known what the dogs have ingested, however the dogs – who have all since recovered – all showed similar neurological symptoms, including seizures and impaired movement.

Cyclists are being urged to sign up to the Manchester to Blackpool Bike Ride and raise money for RSPCA Greater Manchester Animal Hospital (GMAH) in Salford.

 

The 60 mile ride, which takes place on Sunday 13 July, will set off from Manchester United’s Football Ground at Old Trafford, Manchester and finish on the South Promenade in Blackpool.

We’ve just learnt that the mother cat who seemed very stressed by the incident with her babies disappearing down the cavity wall is in fact almost blind.

She and her kittens are in foster care and as she had an upset tummy she was taken to a vet who examined her and realised that even though she is a young cat she has cataracts in both eyes and can only discern light and dark
