The RSPCA is appealing for investigation after a cat was shot six times with an air rifle in Stoke-on-Trent – the third time the cat has been shot in the last 12 months.

The RSPCA is appealing for people to come forward with information after a dog was abandoned in a street in Stoke-on-Trent.

CCTV footage obtained by the RSPCA shows someone walk the American bull dog up to a lamppost before tying his lead around it. They then walk away, leaving the dog barking, confused and wandering around the lamppost.

The incident happened at 2.10am on Monday, 17 July, in Clyde Street.

Workers at a JCB warehouse in Stoke-on-Trent found a surprise stowaway when a praying mantis was discovered hidden in a container from India.

The RSPCA was contacted on Friday (10 March) after the carnivorous insect was found in a container which had come over from India. Staff at the JCB logistics centre, in Lowlands Road, confined the four-inch creature in a box, which was picked up by RSPCA Animal Collection Officer Catherine Strawford.
