Bird-lovers are being sought by an RSPCA wildlife centre in Cheshire to put themselves forward to adopt chickens and domestic pigeons.
The charity’s Stapeley Grange Wildlife Centre, in Nantwich, is looking for people who can provide a suitable home and who would like to adopt birds to get in touch, in anticipation of any chickens – particularly cockerels – and domestic pigeons which will need new homes in the coming months.

An otter cub separated from her mum during Storm Doris is recovering after being rescued by the RSPCA.
The young cub was found staggering at the side of a river in Ralph Road, Staveley, in Chesterfield, on Wednesday night (22 February).
RSPCA inspector Kristy Ludlam collected the otter and took her to a vets. She said: “She was found at the side of the river where she was lethargic, dragging her back legs and calling for her mum.

The RSPCA is appealing for information after a poorly duck, believed to be an owned domestic duck, was abandoned at a lake at the JCB headquarters in Staffordshire.
The RSPCA were contacted by a concerned member of the public on Monday last week (2 January) after spotting the poorly duck at one of the lakes at the construction company’s world headquarters in Rocester.
Nearby was a box which had previously been taped shut, with feathers inside.

A kitten who was dumped in the street with his mum and brothers is hoping for a new home this Christmas – by writing a letter to ‘Santa Paws’!
Six-month-old Marvin was found as a stray in the Cheshire town of Sandbach in July this year, along with three siblings and his mum. Since then, two of his siblings and his mum have been rehomed – leaving Marvin and brother Mark still waiting for a home.
