The RSPCA is renewing pleas for people to come forward after a dog’s body with a bag of cement around his neck was pulled out of a canal in Bootle.

The animal welfare charity issued an appeal for information after the body was found in a canal in Litherland Road on Saturday, 6 May. Tied around the dog’s neck with blue rope was a Head rucksack which was filled with the bags of cement.

The RSPCA is investigating after an emaciated dog in an appalling condition was dumped in a field in Cannock.

The female Staffordshire bull terrier, who has been named Ruby, weighs just 8kg instead of the 20kg she should weigh. As well as being extremely underweight, Ruby had infected open sores on her back legs and an ulcerated eye which is so infected that it now needs removing.

The RSPCA is appealing for information after an emaciated dog was abandoned in a wood, tied to a tree, with a bucket of water left next to him.

The male brindle Staffordshire bull terrier-type dog was found by a dog-walker in Warley Woods, in Smethwick, near Birmingham, on Thursday morning (8 September).

The dog – who has been named Abe and is thought to be aged around three – is now in the RSPCA’s care.

The RSPCA is appealing for information after a poorly dog was found abandoned and collapsed on the floor outside a rescue centre in Liverpool.

The female Staffordshire bull terrier was discovered at the entrance of the Dog’s Trust centre in Whiston Lane, Huyton, on Monday morning (5 September) – so weak she could not stand. The dog was so still that the person who found her initially thought she was a pile of clothes.

The RSPCA is appealing for a dog-lover to rehome a pup who had his leg amputated after being neglected by his previous owners.

Ralph, an eleven-month-old Staffordshire bull terrier cross, was rescued from a house in Sutton-in-Ashfield by an RSPCA inspector in February this year. He had a fractured left back leg, three broken ribs and a fractured pelvis which had gone untreated for at least 10 days. It is not known for certain how he sustained the injuries.
