A cat who was found abandoned at the side of the M54 has been reunited with his owner weeks after being stolen.
The male grey tabby – which was called Highway by the RSPCA but whose real name is Podge – was found cowering beneath a barrier on Junction 4 of the M54 near Shifnal, in Shropshire.
Workers from Highways England found the kitten on Saturday 26 September and contacted the RSPCA’s Gonsal Farm Animal Centre, in Dorrington, Shropshire.

A kitten thought to have been thrown out of a car on the busy M54 is recovering from his ordeal at an RSPCA rescue centre.
The male grey tabby – which has been called Highway – was found cowering beneath a barrier on Junction 4 of the M54 near Shifnal, in Shropshire.

We are relieved DEFRA has decided against rolling out the badger cull to further counties after they backed down on plans to licence more culls in other parts of the British countryside.
Following pilot culls in Somerset and Gloucestershire we feared large areas of land in Dorset, Devon, Cornwall, East Sussex, Worcestershire, Shropshire, Cheshire, Wiltshire and Herefordshire would be included in future culling operations.

We are set to release two geese, which had been shot with crossbows, back to the wild tomorrow (17 December).
The pair were rescued by us after they were seen injured on The Mere in Elsmere, Shropshire.
The release is even more poignant for RSPCA Animal Welfare Officer (AWO) Elaine Williams after she had her nose broken by one of the geese while trying to catch it.
