RSPCA Cymru has praised the “power of microchipping” after a 17-year-old cat was reunited with their owner, after being missing for two weeks.

The one-eyed cat had somehow moved an amazing six miles – having ventured from her Sully home to Barry.

RSPCA Cymru was contacted after the cat was found staggering in the Ewbank Close area of the Vale of Glamorgan town.

A black Staffordshire bull terrier has been found in a ‘truly horrendous state’, in Glynneath, with RSPCA Cymru urgently seeking to find out the circumstances behind the dog’s sad condition.

The charity was contacted after the female dog was seen – on Sunday (17 September) – staggering and rocking in a single spot, with bloody mucus dripping from an open wound on her nose.

A jackdaw sadly lost his life after becoming stuck to freshly-painted rugby posts at Tondu RFC.

The freak accident happened at the Pandy Park rugby ground, in the  area, on 17 July.

RSPCA Cymru attended, after the jackdaw had become stuck on the crossbar, with one of his wings hanging downwards.

The charity attended within 15 minutes of receiving the call about the bird, and accessed the jackdaw via ladder, detaching it from the posts.
