The search is on for the owner of a tabby cat found in Newport with an eye problem.

RSPCA Cymru was alerted after a member of the public found the neutered male cat in the Marlowe Gardens area of the city.

It is believed the cat may be lost from home as he is “very friendly”, and the animal welfare charity is now appealing for information in the hope the owner may come forward.

A cat found lost in Cardiff with a microchip registered to Cyprus has been reunited with his happy and relieved owners, following a successful RSPCA Cymru appeal.

Limmy, a ginger cat, had been missing from his owners – the Biggs family – since 22 August.

A dramatic seal pup rescue has been completed in Port Talbot, which an RSPCA Cymru inspector has described as the “most technical” he has ever been involved with.

The seal pup was trapped between heavy rocks and boulders by a sea wall near the town’s steelworks – known locally as ‘Aberavon Pier’.

Access to the seal was exceptionally difficult, and the rescue took significant planning – including detailed consultation with specialists as to what engineering options may exist.

The RSPCA has rescued an abandoned Gwynedd seal pup, found skinny and alone on the side of the Mawddach Estuary.

A member of the public spotted the collapsed seal and notified RSPCA Cymru. The poor pup’s mother had not been seen for three days.

A Newport MP swapped the green benches of the House of Commons for the passenger seat of an RSPCA van on Thursday (October 5).
