The RSPCA is appealing for information after five Guinea pigs – one of them a week old baby – were found dumped in a layby in Flaxby, Knaresborough.

 

A member of the public came across the vulnerable animals in the pull-in on the Grange on Monday 29 January and called the RSPCA.

 

It’s thought they were probably abandoned the night before in two cardboard boxes that had got wet in the rain, allowing them to escape.

The RSPCA is appealing for information after three gerbils were dumped in their cages at a notorious rural fly-tipping spot in Hutton Rudby, near Stokesley, North Yorkshire.

 

The gerbils were found at 9am yesterday (Wednesday 18 January) and the RSPCA called.

 

RSPCA inspector Clare Wilson said: “There were two young gerbils – one sandy coloured, one grey and white – in one cage and an adult ginger-coloured gerbil with only half a tail in another.

Final preparations are taking place for RSPCA Great Ayton Animal Centre’s Easter Fair & Eggstravaganza at the weekend (Saturday 5 April 2014).

 

The event is taking place at the Yarm Lane centre in Great Ayton between 11.30am and 3pm.
