Iguana dumped in park_RSPCA

The RSPCA has launched an investigation after an iguana was found abandoned in a local Winchester park last Friday (10 June) with a severely broken leg.

A member of the public found the lizard in the public park on Cromwell Road in the Stanmore area of the town and took him home in a plastic container before the RSPCA came to pick him up.

The RSPCA is appealing for information after two injured Hermann tortoises were abandoned by their owner outside the doors of Marwell Zoo in Winchester.

Marwell Zoo reported the incident to the RSPCA on Thursday 2 July after finding the two tortoises dumped in a container outside the entrance to the attraction. A bearded dragon found dumped on a street in Bedfordshire had to be put to sleep after suffering from rickets.

 

The reptile was found on a pavement in Queen Elizabeth Close in Shefford on Wednesday 19 June unable to walk.

 

RSPCA animal collection officer (ACO) Kate Wright was called to collect the young bearded dragon and took him to a specialist vet.
