The RSPCA has launched an appeal for information after two ponies were found on common land at Gelligaer with serious welfare problems.

Officers from the animal welfare charity worked in partnership with Caerphilly Council, Redwings, World Horse Welfare and The British Horse Society to help the horses on Friday (27 November).

The RSPCA is appealing for witnesses after a crash on the ‘flashing lane’ at Appleby Horse Fair this afternoon (Friday 5 June), where horses are ridden and driven at high speed to show them off to potential buyers.

One horse died at the scene and another horse had to be put to sleep by a vet from Redwings Horse Sanctuary.

Specialist RSPCA equine officers are attending Seamer Horse Fair from today (Thursday 11 July). The site opened this morning with the actual horse fair itself taking place on Monday (15 July).

 

The RSPCA will have three officers present each day along with a veterinary surgeon from Redwings Horse Sanctuary.
