Schools from Birmingham, Reading and Leeds have qualified for the finale of a prestigious debating competition, to take place at Westminster’s Church House.

The RSPCA has been hosting Great Debate events, with school children debating a host of animal welfare topics at “centres of citizenship and democracy” across England.

The RSPCA is appealing for information after a dog linked to South Wales was found in Reading with injuries consistent with illegal activity.

A member of the public found the dog in the Burghfield area of the Berkshire town on Sunday (29 October). Sadly, the large cream-coloured greyhound-type dog was found with blood-stained bite marks all over his face, was unable to close his mouth, and also has nasty injuries to his leg.

The RSPCA is encouraging people to be alert and help local wildlife after a badger walked into a cobblers in Reading in broad daylight last week.
