The decomposing and potentially burned body of a rabbit has been found dumped in a cage on a Caerphilly business park, prompting an RSPCA Cymru appeal for information.

Officers from the animal welfare charity were alerted after a member of the public found the cage off Van Road in the town yesterday (26 April).

The rabbit was found in a metal-barred cage, with the animal’s body very decomposed – comprising “little more than fur and bones”.

RSPCA Newport Animal Centre is putting the final preparations in place for a ‘Rabbit Meet and Greet’ event, and treasure hunt, to be held on Sunday (August 27) at 2pm.

The event offers young people an opportunity to meet rabbits and learn about their specific needs.

A treasure hunt is taking place – with children able to take part for £1, and all funds going towards supporting Newport Animal Centre’s animal welfare work.

The RSPCA is investigating after a pet owner found her two rabbits with badly broken legs.

The devastated owner took the rabbits straight to the vet after the horrifying discovery at her home in Coppice Side, Swadlincote, on Sunday, 17 July. The vet then contacted the RSPCA as they believed that the injuries had been deliberate.
