Our West Hatch Animal Centre is celebrating as Stella the Staffordshire bull terrier became the 12th dog they have successfully rehomed to the police force, and the fourth Staffie or Staffie cross they have rehomed as a sniffer dog.
Stella came to the West Hatch Animal Centre after she was found straying. RSPCA Inspector Jo Daniel picked her up and traced her owner, but sadly they didn’t want her back.

Fifty five dogs – including breeding bitches and puppies – have been seized by Durham Constabulary and placed in RSPCA care after warrants were executed at six addresses this morning (Thursday 6 February).
Six people – five men and one woman – were arrested at the addresses in Shotton Colliery and Haswell and taken to a police station to be interviewed. Arrangements have been made for a seventh person, a woman, to attend voluntarily later today.

A dog removed from his owners because of concerns he was being beaten is ‘passing out’ as a West Yorkshire Police dog today (Friday 1 November).
German Shepherd dog ‘Chance’, as he’s been re-named, was found to be living in a small, dark kennel with no access to food or water outside a house in Bradford.
His owners signed him over to us but rehoming him was difficult because of his nervous and aggressive behaviour.
