The RSPCA is appealing for information after the body of a cat in a pet carrier was pulled out of a pool of water on a worksite in a Staffordshire town.

A member of the public contacted the animal welfare charity yesterday after the distressing find in a manmade lagoon on a worksite in Sutton Avenue, in Silverdale, Newcastle-under-Lyme.

The RSPCA is appealing for information after a young cat was dumped in a locked cat carrier in woodland in Staffordshire.

The nine-month-old male black cat was found by a dog-walker in a secluded path in Apedale Country Park, in Newcastle-under-Lyme, on Monday morning (14 March).

A 19 year old woman from Staffordshire has had her hair shaved off in aid of the RSPCA, raising much-needed funds.
