The dead body of a cat has been found in a green wheelie bin in the Newbridge area.

RSPCA Cymru was alerted after the body of a soaking wet, dead black and white cat was found alongside beer cans and faeces in a wheelie bin in the vicinity of Church Road and Thorne Avenue in the area.

The charity has urged anyone with information linked to the incident to contact their inspectorate appeal line on 0300 123 8018.

A dead Dogue de Bordeaux has tragically been found in a Newport river with marks around her body, prompting an RSPCA Cymru appeal for information.

The charity was alerted after the brindle-coloured female dog was found in water adjacent to Riverside Terrace in the Newbridge area of the city on Wednesday (15 November).

RSPCA Cymru has issued a warning to pet owners following a string of reported cat poisonings within the South Wales East area.

Annie Simmonds, RSPCA inspector, has been responding to incidents in Crumlin, Newbridge, and in Pontllanfraith, near Blackwood.
