A cat who arrived in the RSPCA’s care with a hole in his neck – which was so deep it exposed his jugular vein – is waiting for his purr-fect home.

One-year-old Buddy was found as a stray in the streets of Congleton in April, with blood around his neck. An RSPCA inspector took him to the charity’s Stapeley Grange Cattery, in Nantwich, Cheshire, where he has since recovered and is now available for rehoming.

Three orphaned birds of prey which were found helpless at the bottom of a tree are being cared back to full health at an RSPCA wildlife centre in Cheshire.

A member of the public found the baby kestrels – initially thinking they were owls – shaking and frightened in the grounds of a residential home in Doncaster, on 5 June. They were collected by an RSPCA inspector and transferred to Stapeley Grange Wildlife Centre, in Nantwich, Cheshire.

Bird-lovers are being sought by an RSPCA wildlife centre in Cheshire to put themselves forward to adopt chickens and domestic pigeons.

The charity’s Stapeley Grange Wildlife Centre, in Nantwich, is looking for people who can provide a suitable home and who would like to adopt birds to get in touch, in anticipation of any chickens – particularly cockerels – and domestic pigeons which will need new homes in the coming months.

An animal-themed “bake off” will be one of the highlights at an RSPCA centre’s summer fair next month.

The event will take place at the RSPCA’s Stapeley Grange Wildlife and Cattery centre, in Nantwich, Cheshire, from 10am to 5pm on Sunday 3 July.

Other activities include a dog show, crafts, archery, tombola, food and entertainment. Visitors will also have the chance to get their dog microchipped.
