A “desperately underweight” seal found himself in two predicaments on dry land after travelling up the River Loughor.
Workers at a gym equipment warehouse near the estuary in Llanelli were stunned to find the male grey seal pup amongst the treadmills on Friday 11 December. He was then ushered out of the warehouse by the well-meaning staff to the nearby river.

An exotic frog has made a 5,000-mile trip to an Asda store in Llanelli – after being found amongst an a-peel-ing bunch of bananas from Colombia.
RSPCA Cymru was alerted after an eagle-eyed member of staff spotted the frog while on shift at the Murray Street store last Monday (June 29). The quick-thinking superstore worker has been thanked by the animal welfare charity.

The RSPCA has raced to the aid of a horse who became caught in barbed wire in Llanelli.
Officers from the animal welfare charity were notified after a member of the public spotted the horse’s plight in fields near the A4138 at Dafen on Saturday June 20.

April 10 turned out to be a very Good Friday for a swan rescued by the RSPCA in Pwll after swallowing fishing litter.
Rescuers from the animal welfare charity were alerted after the troubled swan was spotted with fishing line protruding from his beak, by a member of the public.

A cat’s leg was left badly broken after being shot with an air rifle near Llanelli.
RSPCA Cymru was notified after the female tortoiseshell cat, named Spot, was shot last Friday (8 June), in the village of Pontyberem.
The cat – aged six – was taken to a veterinary practice, where it was confirmed her leg was broken by an air rifle pellet.
Spot is now set to undergo an operation to have the damaged leg amputated.
