An orphaned week-old seal pup is being cared for at an RSPCA wildlife centre after being found alone and hungry on a beach.

The weak and lethargic grey seal had been without his mum for three days on Penrhyn Beach, in Llandudno, North Wales. This was reported to the RSPCA on 30 September, who rescued him later that day.

A six-strong team of RSPCA officers completed a dramatic rope rescue of a Great Orme goat, on Tuesday (15 August).

The young male goat had become trapped on a ledge, towering above Llandudno’s Marine Drive.

RSPCA Cymru closely monitored the animal’s progress, and it became apparent a rope rescue team would be required to bring the goat to safety.

Dog lovers from across North Wales are being invited to join a sponsored RSPCA “Mutt Strutt” in Llandudno.

The event, which takes place on 2 April, will see people and their four-legged companions undertake a six-mile walk around the Great Orme.

All monies raised will be donated to the Bryn-Y-Maen Animal Centre, to support their work helping animals rescued from cruelty and neglect. In 2016, Bryn-Y-Maen rehomed 90 dogs, 245 cats, 35 rabbits and 83 other animals.

A stray cat in the Llandudno area has lost his life after being poisoned with anti-freeze, prompting an appeal for information – and a vigilance warning – from RSPCA Cymru.

On 25 January, a member of the public found the collapsed cat, who was shivering and displaying symptoms consistent with being poisoned.

The black and white domestic shorthair cat was found on Llandudno Road, in Penrhyn Bay. There is no indication that the cat had an owner.
