A Leicester woman has been disqualified from keeping dogs for a year after admitting to not caring for her dog properly, leading him to become underweight.

German Shepherd-cross Chase was also living in a room of the house with faeces on the floor and was clearly underweight when he was rescued by the RSPCA on 16 September last year.

The RSPCA is appealing for information after a shih tzu dog in a neglected state was found on a housing estate in Leicester.

The male dog, who has been named Kain, was found in Braunstone Close on Thursday last week (30 November). His fur was matted and overgrown, which meant that he was struggling to see.

The RSPCA is investigating after a cygnet was shot with a crossbow in Leicester – missing his brain by millimetres.

The young swan, thought to be around eight weeks old, was rescued from a part of the River Soar in Soar Lane on Sunday morning (4 September).

Miraculously, the swan has survived and will hopefully make a full recovery.

The RSPCA is appealing for information after a cat suffered a broken leg when he was shot with an air rifle in Hinckley.

The male cat was found by his owner with the injuries in Strathmore Road, on the afternoon of Tuesday 26 April.

An X-ray showed that a pellet from an air rifle had fractured his leg.
