RSPCA staff to take part in cattery sleepover to raise money for moggies this Halloween
The staff at RSPCA South Godstone Animal Centre in Surrey are taking part in a ‘spooky’ cattery sleepover to raise much-needed funds for the 61 cats currently in their care.
The sponsored sleepover will take place on Wednesday (24 October) with four members of staff camping out overnight in the main corridor area of the cattery alongside the cat pods.

An RSPCA inspector has expressed her “shock and dismay” after a young female kitten was left alone and abandoned in a zipped-up handbag down a Cardiff lane.
She was found in the bag by a member of the public, near their home on Albany Road, at approximately 4pm last Wednesday (6 June).

A man who pinned two kittens to the floor and beat them to death has been jailed for 20 weeks.
Aaron Jay Barker, aged 26, of Songthrush Avenue, in Basford, Nottingham, was found guilty yesterday (Tuesday 19 December) of causing unnecessary suffering to the two kittens following a two-day trial at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court.
The court case heard evidence from an RSPCA inspector who investigated the case, and from vet experts.

A four-day-old kitten who was abandoned by her mother on a cold and wet day in Birmingham is due to star on the small screen in the Channel 5 show Jo Brand’s Cats and Kittens.
The kitten was found by a member of the public huddled under a bush after they heard her distressed meowing. The contacted the RSPCA, and Inspector Louise Marston collected her and took her to the charity’s Birmingham Animal Hospital.
