A heron had a lucky escape after being found hanging by his wing, caught by fishing line, in Llansamlet.

RSPCA Cymru has issued a reminder about the dangers of fishing litter to wildlife, after teaming-up with firefighters to rescue the distressed bird.

A decapitated heron has been found in the Blackwood area, reports to RSPCA Cymru suggest.

The heron was seen by a member of the public on 5 May, at the Twyn, Fleur De Lis in the town, prompting an appeal for information.

The RSPCA is reminding people to dispose of angling litter carefully after a heron died from injuries sustained after he got his feet tangled in fishing line.

We are appealing for information after a heron was shot with an airgun.

The juvenile bird was spotted in a garden in Yeovil, Somerset by a passing dog walker. He was in an underweight state and struggling to fly. We were called and an inspector came to rescue the bird and take him to the nearby West Hatch Wildlife Centre.
