A duck has sadly become one of wildlife’s latest victims of fishing litter, after wire became trapped tightly around the bird’s leg. 

RSPCA Cymru was alerted to the mallard hybrid duck’s plight after a member of the public spotted the distressed animal at Hendre Lake in Cardiff.

An Aylesbury duck lost its life in tragic circumstances after becoming trapped in fishing litter in Hendre Lake, in the St Mellons area of Cardiff.

RSPCA Cymru attempted to rescue the bird on Friday 30 December – from water near Cypress Drive.

An RSPCA inspector and animal collection officer rushed to the duck’s aid, after its plight was reported to the charity.
