A hedgehog had a harrowing experience after he got trapped in between a fencing panel and a post – and then got attacked by a dog.

Thankfully, despite having a gaping wound on the side of his body, the hedgehog was successfully rescued by the RSPCA – and is now recovering at the animal welfare charity’s Stapeley Grange Wildlife Centre, in Nantwich, Cheshire.

The RSPCA is urging people to put sports netting away when not in use, after a hedgehog had to be rescued from one in Ware.

The animal welfare charity was called on Thursday, 28 July, by a member of the public who was concerned about the hog tangled in some tennis netting at Wodson Park Leisure Centre, in Wadesmill Road.

Hedgehog stuck between fences_St Albans_1

An RSPCA inspector rushed to a rather prickly rescue last week after a rather large hedgehog got stuck between two metal fences at a gym in St. Albans.

A passer-by called the RSPCA last Friday evening (10 June) when they noticed the hog was stuck between the black metal fences in an unforgiving and rather tight squeeze at Cotlandswick Leisure Centre on the High Street of the Hertfordshire city.

The RSPCA is reminding people to help hedgehogs by making sure pipe drains are covered, after a large hog got trapped in one in Shrewsbury.

The hedgehog was rescued on Sunday (13 March) after he fell down the drain next to a house in Judith Butts Gardens.
