An RSPCA officer caught a cat which was tumbling 40-foot to the floor from a towering tree in a remarkable Cardiff rescue.

RSPCA animal collection officer Annie Janes completed the rescue in the Penylan area of the city on 29 December.

With approximately 80 cats currently in their care, the RSPCA’s Bryn-Y-Maen Animal Centre is launching an urgent re-homing appeal for anyone looking for a forever, feline friend.

Centre manager Victoria Williams says the number of cats looking for a new home is “worryingly high”.

RSPCA Cymru is reminding members of the public to prioritise adopting, rather than shopping, if they are considering a new addition to their family.
