The majority of the 950 million chickens farmed each year in the UK for food are bred to grow so fast millions of them are dangerously heavy for their age, struggle to walk properly and can suffer from heart defects, according to the RSPCA.

To celebrate British Egg Week and World Egg Day (Oct 14), RSPCA Cymru is urging people to consider rehoming a friendly hen, from its Bryn-Y-Maen Animal Centre.

Doreen, Doris and Delilah came into RSPCA care after being rescued from terrible conditions. After lots of tender, loving, care by staff at RSPCA Bryn-Y-Maen Animal Centre, the girls are now thriving and ready to find a new home.
