We are relieved DEFRA has decided against rolling out the badger cull to further counties after they backed down on plans to licence more culls in other parts of the British countryside.
Following pilot culls in Somerset and Gloucestershire we feared large areas of land in Dorset, Devon, Cornwall, East Sussex, Worcestershire, Shropshire, Cheshire, Wiltshire and Herefordshire would be included in future culling operations.

We received a very special delivery when a young puffin was found on a pavement outside a Post Office.
The forlorn looking bird was spotted by a man in Strood, Kent, and taken to a vet before being transferred to our Mallydams Wood Wildlife Centre.
The puffin, nicknamed Pat after the world’s favourite postman, has been nursed back to health and is set to be released back into the wild today.

A giant stowaway spider that travelled from Taiwan to St Leonards-on-Sea, East Sussex in a shipping container has been rescued by us and rehomed to Drusillas Park, after warehouse staff had the fright of their life.
RSPCA Inspector Zoe Ballard arrived at the Seventies BMX parts company on Moorhurst Road, on Monday morning after shocked staff discovered a huntsman spider lurking in their delivery while unpacking a shipment of boxes from Taiwan.

We have launched an investigation into the apparent intentional killing of a juvenile swan in Westham, East Sussex on Saturday (5 October).
Shocked witnesses saw a brown Toyota or Mitsubishi pickup stop next to the pond on the High Street at 12.45pm on Saturday afternoon, as a large cygnet was in the road.

Renowned nature lover and TV presenter Bill Oddie is to share his passion for wildlife at our Mallydams Wood Wildlife Centre near Hastings, East Sussex on Saturday (August 10).
