An RSPCA Cymru inspector has been left baffled by the deaths of two female collies whose bodies were discovered in a field at Crosswell near Crymych on Wednesday (January 15 2014).

The bodies of the black and white dogs were laid out head to toe behind a hedgerow with no obvious injuries or signs of trauma. One was wearing a leather collar but  it didn’t have an ID tag. Neither dog  had been microchipped.

The RSPCA is appealing for information after four degus were found dumped in a layby in Cardiff by a member of the public.

The animals were found inside a cage behind some bins at Lamby Way in Rumney on Monday 6 January. The cages was completely soaked through with rain and covered in faeces and urine. We are braced for a busy festive period after dealing with a bumper number of calls about cruelty over Christmas last year (2012).

Last year staff answered 833 calls about neglect and cruelty on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day – 53 per cent more than the same period in 2011.

Calls to help collect injured and abandoned animals were also up by about a third (32%) from 584 in 2011 to 769 last year.

We are appealing for information after four dead cats were found in separate plastic bags, dumped in a playing field at Broxtowe, Nottingham.

The bodies were discovered on the morning of Sunday 10 November, in Woodfield Park Recreation Ground, Woodfield Road, Broxtowe, Nottingham.

The four adult cats had been individually placed in Morrisons plastic shopping bags.

They were found by a member of the public who contacted us.

The RSPCA is appealing for information after a dog was found dumped in a ditch in Cottingham, East Yorkshire collapsed, emaciated and covered in sores.

 

The dog – an elderly male, neutered German Shepherd – was found and rescued from the ditch on North Moor Lane by a member of the public on Sunday 6 October.
