The rescue and rehabilitation of a much-loved Northwich swan has led to a supermarket donating over £200 to an RSPCA wildlife centre in Cheshire.

The money was raised through Waitrose’s Community Matters scheme, where shoppers can choose how the supermarket splits a monthly £1,000 donation to three local charities by placing a green token into boxes.

As a result, £218 was raised for the RSPCA’s Stapeley Grange Wildlife Centre, in Nantwich.

A 19 year old woman from Staffordshire is becoming an #AnimalHero by having her head shaved in aid of the RSPCA tomorrow (Friday 20 December 2013).

Hardworking staff and volunteers at the RSPCA’s East Winch Wildlife Centre have been overwhelmed by public generosity as donations pour in following the rescue of orphaned seal pups.

A large number of the pups were separated from their mothers by the recent tidal surge along the Norfolk coast, which swept many of the young seals out to sea before they could even swim properly.

A trainee guide dog has been named Joan in honour of a lady who left money to us to be used to train a guide dog.

As we don’t train guide dogs, we gave the money to the charity Guide Dogs in 2011 to sponsor the training of a dog from puppy to qualified guide dog.
