We appealing for information after a pony was shot in the face in a callous and brutal act of animal cruelty.

Bambi, a ten-year-old chestnut mare, was shot in the nose with a 20 inch bolt arrow, most likely fired from a crossbow.

The injured pony was spotted by a concerned member of the public on Monday, 10 June, at around 7pm in her field near Broad Car Road, Hoyland, Barnsley.

The RSPCA is appealing for information after a wood pigeon was shot with a crossbow. The bird was so badly injured it was put to sleep by a vet.

The bird was discovered on a pavement on Backhold Avenue, Halifax by a member of the public on Thursday 9 May. They waited with it while RSPCA Inspector Natalie Taylor arrived. She said:
