The RSPCA has launched an appeal to raise £4,000 for one of its rescue dogs who urgently needs medical tests.

The chihuahua, called Honey,  was rescued last month from a house where there were 82 dogs. Neglected Honey has now been placed in a foster home with RSPCA officer Catherine Strawford in Walsall and she had been doing really well – until last week.

A thermal imaging drone helped rescue a dog in dramatic circumstances – after she had spent five days trapped down the hole of a Cwmtillery mountain.

RSPCA Cymru, South Wales Fire and Rescue Service, Gwent Police, Resource Group Unmanned Aviation Services and numerous volunteers all worked together to find the Chihuahua, named Cherry.

She went missing on 15 March, while walking on Mynydd James, within the Welsh Valleys mountain range.

The RSPCA is appealing for information after the body of a chihuahua was found in a bin bag on railway tracks in Willenhall.

A member of the public found the dog – a tricolour male – on the morning of Wednesday 28 December on the old railway line off Stroud Avenue. Fifty five dogs – including breeding bitches and puppies – have been seized by Durham Constabulary and placed in RSPCA care after warrants were executed at six addresses this morning (Thursday 6 February).


Six people – five men and one woman – were arrested at the addresses in Shotton Colliery and Haswell and taken to a police station to be interviewed. Arrangements have been made for a seventh person, a woman, to attend voluntarily later today.

RSPCA Cymru is issuing an urgent appeal for information after a dog was found alone on a train in Swansea.

The sandy coloured chihuahua was discovered in carry case by a train guard on the Arriva Trains’ Manchester Piccadilly to Carmarthen service yesterday afternoon (Thursday 17 January).
