A stray cat which was taken into an RSPCA centre has been reunited with her owner after a year of being missing – following a social media appeal to find her owner which led to an offer of help from the Swedish government!

Cookie went missing from her home in Westhouses, near Alfreton, Derbyshire, in August last year, devastating her owner Jessica Vestin, who had brought the cat over from her home in Sweden in 2015.

An otter cub separated from her mum during Storm Doris is recovering after being rescued by the RSPCA.

The young cub was found staggering at the side of a river in Ralph Road, Staveley, in Chesterfield, on Wednesday night (22 February).

RSPCA inspector Kristy Ludlam collected the otter and took her to a vets. She said: “She was found at the side of the river where she was lethargic, dragging her back legs and calling for her mum.

The RSPCA is appealing for information after a young foal was left to die in a country lane in Derbyshire.

The colt – not believed to be any older than four months – was found by a member of the public in Slayley Hill, Clowne, yesterday (Tuesday 26 January).

The RSPCA and a vet went to the scene, where the vet said that the foal was so poorly that he had to be put to sleep to prevent further suffering…. Continue reading…
