The RSPCA is appealing for information after the body of a pig with his legs tied together was pulled out of a river in Stockport.
A member of the public contacted the RSPCA on Friday morning (29 September) after seeing the pig in the river by a weir, in Otterspool, in Romiley.
RSPCA Animal Welfare Officer (AWO) Steve Wickham and a crew from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service attended to remove the body.

An RSPCA wildlife centre in Cheshire has welcomed two rare puffin patients.
The young birds are being treated at RSPCA’s Stapeley Grange Wildlife Centre, in Nantwich, after being found covered in oil on a beach in Sunderland.
Before being released back into the wild they will need to be washed thoroughly with Fairy liquid to ensure that all of the oil has gone.

The RSPCA is appealing for information after an emaciated and injured dog was found in a street in Runcorn.
A member of the public found the Staffordshire bull terrier-type dog in Shepherds Row, at 8.30pm on Thursday 21 September.
The dog, thought to be around 10 years old, had an old leg fracture, a skin condition, severe muscle wastage, sores on his feet and legs and an ulcer on his eye.

Five intrepid animal-lovers will take on one of Cheshire’s longest walking trails this weekend to raise funds for an RSPCA wildlife centre.
The team will take on the 55km-long Sandstone Trail on Saturday (23 September) to raise money for Nantwich’s Stapeley Grange.
They will start at 5.30am and are aiming to walk the trail, which goes from Frodsham to Whitchurch, in 14 hours.

The RSPCA is warning people about the danger that fly paper poses to wildlife, after a swallow died after getting stuck to one.
The animal welfare charity was called to rescue the bird from a stable in Ridge End, in Marple, Stockport, on Tuesday (5 September).
Sadly, the swallow had to be put to sleep as a result of injuries sustained from being stuck to the paper.
