Approximately 400 humans and hundreds of dogs took over Bute Park on Saturday (May 18) as the hotly-anticipated Big Walkies Live returned to Cardiff.

The event marked a “celebration of dogs of all shapes and sizes” – as canines and their owners enjoyed two scenic walk routes through the beautiful surroundings of the central Cardiff-based park.

Animal lovers across Pembrokeshire are being invited to a special coffee morning to find out more about the local RSPCA branch.

RSPCA Pembrokeshire Branch is hosting a coffee morning on 1 June, at the Pembrokeshire Association of Voluntary Services, between 11am and noon.

A warning has been issued to cat owners in Cwmllynfell after vets confirmed the death of two cats in the local area was caused by anti-freeze poisoning.

RSPCA Cymru has now launched an appeal for information, and called for cat owners in the community to be vigilant and to know the symptoms of a suspected poisoning.

The animal welfare charity was alerted after two cats were found last week, not walking properly and appearing severely uncoordinated.

An RSPCA appeal for information has been launched following the death of a red kite caught by an illegal gin trap.

RSPCA Cymru was alerted after the poor bird of prey was found bleeding, and with broken legs, in the trap on the B4340, near New Cross and Abermadwr on 7 May.

The caller who found the bird transferred the animal to a local veterinary practice, where it was confirmed that the legs had been broken by the trap.

An RSPCA veterinary clinic is running “desperately low” of blankets and other bedding, and has asked supporters to donate unwanted items to help animals in its care.

RSPCA Merthyr Tydfil Clinic – at The Willows in Abercanaid – provides veterinary care for sick or injured animals rescued by RSPCA officers; and offers low-cost support for pets of people on benefits in the local community.
