The RSPCA is appealing for information after an elderly emaciated Staffordshire bull terrier was found staggering in a street in Birkenhead.
The dog was found by a member of the public in Whetstone Lane on New Year’s Eve. They contacted the RSPCA, who took the dog to a vets to be examined.
Sadly she was so poorly that the vet made the decision to put her to sleep to prevent further suffering.

A cat found covered in oil has been rescued by the RSPCA – and has been named Diesel after his ordeal.
The RSPCA received a call from a concerned member of the public who found the black-and-white male cat smelling very strongly of fuel in Price Street, Birkenhead.

The RSPCA is appealing for information after a severely injured dog was found in a Birkenhead cemetery.
The dog was found by members of the public in undergrowth in a remote part of a cemetery off Collin Road, in Prenton, Merseyside, on Saturday (25 January).
Vets who examined the dog – who was named Elmo by veterinary staff – said that every bone in his body had been broken at some point in his life.
