A much-loved cat has had to be put to sleep after being shot in the head with an airgun in Eggborough, Selby.

 

Dusty was found on Green Acres by a neighbour covered in blood, unable to walk or stand.

 

Her owner took her straight to the vets where she was given pain relief and x-rayed. Sadly vets advised she needed to be euthanised.

The RSPCA is appealing for investigation after a cat was shot six times with an air rifle in Stoke-on-Trent – the third time the cat has been shot in the last 12 months.

Two-year-old Dante was rushed to a vet on the morning of Wednesday 5 July by his concerned owners after he returned to his home in Trent Valley Road with a wound to the side of his body.

The number of airgun incidents reported to RSPCA Cymru is sadly on course to be the higher in 2017 than in each of the previous two years. 

From the turn of the year, to the end of June, 41 incidents across Wales were reported to the charity. That compares to 58 throughout 2016, and 61 in 2015.

The new statistics are published ahead of a notoriously busy period for RSPCA Cymru officers in investigating such deliberate and cruel attacks.

The RSPCA is appealing for information after a cat suffered a serious injury when she was shot in a Liverpool street.

One-year-old family pet Tilly spent five days receiving treatment at a vet’s practice after an airgun pellet perforated her bowel, leading her to become very poorly.

It is believed that Tilly was shot with an airgun near to her home in Drakefield Road, Liverpool, sometime on Tuesday 25 April.

There was a happy ending for a swan who was released back to the wild on Wednesday (9 September) after being shot in the head with an airgun.
