The RSPCA is appealing for information after a cat was shot in Harwood, Bolton.
Three-year-old Edward had to be operated on to have the airgun pellet removed, and vets say he had ‘a lucky escape’, as the pellet just missed his vital organs.

A much-loved cat has been put to sleep on humane grounds after being shot in York.
Biscuit, an eight-month-old ginger tom cat, was found severely injured in the garden of a neighbour’s house, a few doors from his home on Almsford Road, on Monday night (18 March).

Dusty was found on Green Acres by a neighbour covered in blood, unable to walk or stand.

The number of airgun incidents reported to RSPCA Cymru is sadly on course to be the higher in 2017 than in each of the previous two years.
From the turn of the year, to the end of June, 41 incidents across Wales were reported to the charity. That compares to 58 throughout 2016, and 61 in 2015.
The new statistics are published ahead of a notoriously busy period for RSPCA Cymru officers in investigating such deliberate and cruel attacks.
