Today (Thursday 12 September) marks the first anniversary of the Ramsgate live exports tragedy, yet sadly new government figures reveal that less than 40% of animal transport lorries are being inspected at the port.
At 11am today, the RSPCA along with other animal groups and Kent residents came together at the Port of Ramsgate to lay a floral tribute in remembrance of the 47 sheep that lost their lives at the dock on this day in 2012*.

The RSPCA would like to contact the owner of an elderly cat found wandering in Haverhill in Suffolk on Sunday 1 September.
The cat, a female light coloured tabby, is thought to be about 15-years-old. She is thin and weak but no more than would be expected at her age.
She was taken to a vet’s who found a microchip which told them that she was registered to someone living in Larks Close in Haverhill.

The RSPCA is appealing for information about the owner of an injured cat who was left in a taped up carrier just off a beaten track in woodland in Brandon, in Suffolk.
The blue cat carrier, which was tightly shut with a lot of gaffer tape, was found by a walker near Willow Close on Monday 2 September around 6pm. There was a plate of food inside the cage.

We helped to rescue a stray pony after he stepped onto the hard cover of a swimming pool in Chichester, and plunged through getting trapped between two sections of the broken cover.
The incident happened at a house in Marsh Lane, in Runcton, near Chichester on Thursday morning.
