A swan has been found with horrific injuries – thought to have been caused by a dog – in Pembroke.

The adult mute swan was found by a walker with severe injuries on the river bank near Monkton. RSPCA animal rescue officer Ellie West said she was shocked to see the condition the bird was in.

A young otter cub has been taken into RSPCA care after he was found in distress at Porthclais Harbour near St David’s.

The pup – who is thought to be around three months old – was found squeaking and in distress for many hours with Welsh Marine Life Rescue (WMLR) being called to the scene. RSPCA Cymru has cautiously welcomed the publication of a Welsh Government White Paper into a new Agriculture (Wales) Bill, urging Ministers to prioritise a new farm payments model which incentivises higher welfare standards on Wales’ farms.

A “desperately underweight” seal found himself in two predicaments on dry land after travelling up the River Loughor.

Workers at a gym equipment warehouse near the estuary in Llanelli were stunned to find the male grey seal pup amongst the treadmills on Friday 11 December. He was then ushered out of the warehouse by the well-meaning staff to the nearby river.

The RSPCA has released images of a person they hope to speak to, as they continue to investigate the circumstances behind the dumping of a dying young dog in Birkenhead.
