RSPCA Cymru is appealing for information after a dead French bulldog was dumped in a plastic bag in the Michaelston le Pit area of the Vale of Glamorgan.

The sad discovery was found by a member of the public on Friday (15 November) who handed the body over to a nearby vets – leading to the RSPCA being contacted.

The RSPCA has launched its festive appeal Stock the Sleigh to help needy animals this winter as it reveals last Christmas Day was its busiest for five years.

On 25 December 2018, the charity received 934 calls to its cruelty line – the highest number for five years and almost a third more than in 2017.

The RSPCA has launched an emergency fundraising appeal as one of the charity’s wildlife centres prepares for the influx of oiled swans who are being rescued as part of a large operation following flooding in South Yorkshire.

It is believed that 60 swans have been affected by oil after the recent flooding upturned a barge, causing the spillage on the Sheffield and South Yorkshire Navigation canal near where it connects with the River Don, off Rawmarsh Lane in Rotherham.

An urgent search for the owner of a dog has been launched – after he was hit by several cars on the A472 yesterday morning (6 November), near Pontypool roundabout.

The male chihuahua-cross dog was collected by the RSPCA having gone under a car on the A road.
