RSPCA Newport Animal Centre “cannot wait” to welcome the public to its annual dog show, BBQ and summer fete on Sunday (7 July).
The Hartridge Farm Road animal centre has organised children’s games, arts, crafts, bric-a-brac, craft stalls, a tombola and more, with the event running from 11am to 3pm.
Entrance is only 50 pence per head, while free parking is available.
Canine companions are invited to take part in the dog show, which will “celebrate dogs of all breeds, shapes and sizes”. There’s a host of fun categories – and dogs can enter on the day, with rosettes and doggy bandanas all up for grabs.
A ‘Catless Cat Show’ will also take place – with judges selecting felines from a host of categories – including best rescue cat – using photographs, which can be sent in via firstname.lastname@example.org.
Vets will be on site throughout the day, and there will be plenty of ‘cool down’ stations to help keep dogs safe in the warmer weather conditions.
The centre rehomed more than 400 pets in 2018, and attendees will also have the chance to talk to staff about the possibility of adopting one of the dozens of rescue animals currently in the care of the RSPCA in Newport.
Kath Logan, of Newport Animal Centre, said: “We’re so excited that our Dog Show, BBQ and summer fete has almost arrived. It’s set to be an amazing day packed full of activities for all the family.
“From our fun dog competitions, to children’s games, stalls, refreshments and more, we cannot wait to open our doors to the people of Newport and beyond.
“With entry only 50 pence, we’d love to see as many animal lovers as possible join us and celebrate dogs of all breeds, shapes and sizes; as well as other animals – with our Catless Cat Show another big hit. There’s loads more information on the RSPCA Newport Animal Centre Facebook page.”
