Get ready for a ‘pawfect’ day out for all the family!
RSPCA’s Newport Animal Centre’s annual dog show and fun day is due to take place in just a few weeks time on Sunday, 7 July from 11am to 3pm.
The annual event will include various stalls and activities throughout the day, including a dog show, a catless cat photograph show*, stalls, Tombola, bric-a-brac, refreshments, children’s games, arts and crafts, glitter face painting and children dress-up characters.
Animal centre manager Stuart Toulson said: “We’re counting down the day until our annual summer fun day which we just love to host. We can’t wait to welcome everyone to our fun day!
“The event will help us to raise funds for the ongoing care and rehabilitation of the animals at the centre rescued from the RSPCA inspectorate, which includes those who have experienced neglect or mistreatment.
“We have around 100 animals on site who are given veterinary treatment, behaviour training and general rehabilitation – preparing them for rehoming. All funds raised on the day will go back into the centre.”
Among the animals at the centre currently looking for ‘furever’ homes are a group of puppies who have been named after Pokémon characters. The four-month-old Staffordshire bull terriers have been named Pikachu, Eevee, Flareon, Vulpix and Jiggly Puff.
“These puppies – one boy and four girls – are adorable and we are now looking for their perfect homes for them so they can start their new adventures with a new family,” said Stuart.
“Hopefully we will have found homes for them by the time of the fun day – but if not we’d love for visitors to come and meet them along with all of our other animals looking for homes.”
The animal centre – which is based on Hartridge Farm Road – is also looking for donations for the stalls on the day along with stallholders to join them for the event. Those interested can email firstname.lastname@example.org or call the centre on 0300 123 0744.
