A duck who RSPCA officers and a local animal lover tried to rescue for nearly a week because he had a dart through his neck has been captured, treated and released back into the wild.

 

The RSPCA was first called about the male mallard on Tuesday 26 February after he was spotted beside the River Don, Sheffield Road, Oxspring with the four inch metal dart through his neck.

The RSPCA is appealing for information after a cat with a skin condition was dumped at the charity’s Great Ayton Animal Centre, Middlesbrough.

 

A man came into the reception, put a carrier with the cat inside on the desk, said “I don’t want that”, and ran out.

Two female degus have been found dumped in a cage in Swansea.

They were found on Woodfield Street in Morriston on 2 March at around 8pm. The person who found them kindly took them into their home for safe keeping and contacted the RSPCA.

RSPCA inspector Leigh Summers said: “These two female degus were found inside a large cage with a bag of food and hay.
