RSPCA Cymru is appealing for information following the sad discovery of a decomposing dog found in a black bin bag in Aberbargoed.
The call came into the RSPCA on Saturday (9 February) after the bag was found on the mountainside near a rugby field in the Commin Road area known locally as ‘Y Graig’.
RSPCA inspector Simon Evans said: “We’d like to thank the member of public who called us about this awful discovery that would have been extremely distressing to find.
“The black and white dog – which may have been a collie – was found without its head and neck, and as the bag had been ripped open the carcass has been scavenged. Before the bag had been ripped, it had been secured used two white plastic cable ties.”
It is currently unknown what happened and why the dog was placed into a plastic bag and dumped.
Inspector Evans added: “It’s not clear whether the dog has died in suspicious circumstances or of natural causes and the body has then been dumped – but we’d like to find out.
“If anyone knows where the dog may have come from, or may have seen something in the area, we’d really like to hear from them.
“Anyone with any information which could help our investigation should contact the RSPCA appeal line on 0300 123 8018.”
