RSPCA Newport Animal Centre is seeking donations of any unwanted garden furniture.

The donations would be used for upcoming events they are holding at the centre, including an upcoming dog show on Sunday 15 July.

Kathryn Logan, deputy manager at the centre, said: “At the moment we desperately need some garden furniture that is still in good condition.

“We’re looking for things like tables, chairs, parasols, benches and gazebos, which we can use for our events.”

A hedgehog trapped in a metal fence had a slippery escape after an RSPCA inspector used soapy water to free the animal from his plight.

RSPCA Cymru were notified after the hedgehog was found trapped between gaps in a metal fence, at a property on Long Vue Road in Port Talbot.

A rabbit who has been searching for a new home for almost SEVEN MONTHS is hoping to find her forever happiness this Rabbit Awareness Week.

Pippa, a white domestic rabbit, was found by a member of the public on a street in Cardiff in November 2017. It was feared the rabbit had been away from home for a long period of time, as she was found with bones visible, and patches of fur missing.

An RSPCA appeal for information has been launched amid fears two cats from the same Risca home died as a result of anti-freeze poisoning.

Officers from the animal welfare charity were alerted after both cats – from Grove Road – were taken ill last Friday (25 May).

The two ginger cats, who are brothers, and named Simon and Garfunkel, appeared unwell and lethargic; with one visibly trembling.
