Could you be a foster carer for a rescue cat or dog?
RSPCA Newport Animal Centre has launched an urgent appeal for cat and dog foster carers for some of the animals in their care who are not quite ready for rehoming.
The centre at any one time cares for more than 100 animals and in 2017 staff rehomed 91 dogs, 218 cats, 43 rabbits and 48 other small animals.

The RSPCA is issuing a warning about the dangers of netting to wildlife after a terrified buck became entangled in some which had been left discarded.
A member of the public spotted the “distressed” deer with his head and antlers in a twisted tangle of plastic netting at the side of Castle Bytham Road in Swayfield, Lincolnshire, on Wednesday.

An RSPCA inspector has expressed her “shock and dismay” after a young female kitten was left alone and abandoned in a zipped-up handbag down a Cardiff lane.
She was found in the bag by a member of the public, near their home on Albany Road, at approximately 4pm last Wednesday (6 June).

An RSPCA appeal for information has been launched amid fears a gull was deliberately shot with an air rifle in Penarth.
The animal welfare charity was contacted after a resident of Summerland Crescent in Llandough heard three large bangs, before watching a gull fall into her back garden.
It is unclear whether the bird was shot in mid-flight, or while perched in the Llandough back garden. The incident took place on Sunday (June 10).

A cat’s leg was left badly broken after being shot with an air rifle near Llanelli.
RSPCA Cymru was notified after the female tortoiseshell cat, named Spot, was shot last Friday (8 June), in the village of Pontyberem.
The cat – aged six – was taken to a veterinary practice, where it was confirmed her leg was broken by an air rifle pellet.
Spot is now set to undergo an operation to have the damaged leg amputated.
