RSPCA Newport Animal Centre is seeking donations of any unwanted garden furniture.

The donations would be used for upcoming events they are holding at the centre, including an upcoming dog show on Sunday 15 July.

Kathryn Logan, deputy manager at the centre, said: “At the moment we desperately need some garden furniture that is still in good condition.

“We’re looking for things like tables, chairs, parasols, benches and gazebos, which we can use for our events.”

As a charity, the RSPCA relies on public donations to exist, and donated items – like those Newport Animal Centre is currently appealing for – can play a crucial role in the day-to-day running of the centre.

Kathryn added: “We are really lucky as regularly people donate things to the centre like blankets and toys for the animals in our care which we are really grateful for and would like to thank everyone so much for thinking of us.

“The garden furniture is a bit more specific and not what you’d expect us to appeal for, so we’re trying to get the message out there to see if anyone has anything they would like to pass on that they don’t want or use anymore.

“We’d be using them for our dog show which is on Sunday 15 July, which we are really looking forward to. We can’t wait to meet everyone on the day with their pet pooches, which will include a dog show with 10 classes.”

The dog show will run from 11am to 3.30pm and will include face painting, a raffle, tombola, bric-a-brac, children games, a BBQ, cakes and refreshments.

Items can be donated directly to the centre, based on Hartridge Farm Road, which can also be reached on 0300 123 0744.
