A tiny frog which can usually be found hopping from tree to tree in the rainforest of the Dominican Republic was discovered hidden in a bunch of bananas – in Blackburn Tesco.


The tiny amphibian was spotted by a shop worker in Tesco, Hill Street, on Friday afternoon (23 March). She didn’t know what to do with the stowaway so contacted the RSPCA.

Two dead dogs have been found buried in a shallow grave in Stockton-on-Tees, one of them with a severely fractured skull. 


The lurcher-types – one male and one female – were discovered buried down a disused railway line about 200 metres off Letch Lane by a woman walking her dog on Wednesday morning (21 March).

RSPCA Cymru is appealing for information after a dead French Bulldog was found on a grass verge in Newport.

The dog was found at Fleetwood Close and discovered at around 9pm on Sunday evening (25 March). The member of public who found the dog took him to a nearby vets, who subsequently contacted the RSPCA.

RSPCA Cymru is reminding dog walkers to keep their dogs on the lead at all times when near farm animals, after a dog chased a sheep down a quarry in Caernarfon.

Walkers witnessed a dog chase the sheep down a quarry near Nantlle Road, Talysarn, leaving the sheep trapped around 80 foot down a vertical cliff.

RSPCA Cymru has welcomed measures to ensure CCTV is installed in slaughterhouses in Wales.

The Welsh Government has announced that a £1.1 million Food Business Investment of grant aid will be made available for small and medium size slaughterhouses in Wales.
