They have sadly been overlooked time and time again – but Benjamin and Barney have so much love to give.
RSPCA Newport Animal Centre is looking for forever homes for the two dogs (separately) after sadly they have not received much interest by visitors.
Kennel and cattery supervisor Samantha Richmond said: “Both Benjamin and Barney have been waiting to find their forever homes for far too long.
“They may be a little bit older than some of the other dogs, but that doesn’t mean that they can’t have the best years of their lives with a owner who can give them all the love and attention they truly deserve.”
Benjamin is 10 years old and came into RSPCA care after his owner sadly passed away. He does have a few health issues, but they can be easily managed.
Samantha said: “He is a friendly large boxer cross type dog and craves being with someone. He enjoys meeting and greeting people but can show himself to be nervous at times. However, once he gets to know you, Benjamin will actively display his eagerness to say hello and share affection. He also enjoys being groomed.
“He’s not coping well in kennels at the moment so we are eager to find him his perfect match.”
Barney is 12 years and is a crossbreed. “Barney came to us from another RSPCA centre, after he was signed over to the charity as his owners could no longer care for him,” said Samantha.
“Barney is great with people and has a huge personality. Barney may be an older boy but do not let that fool you as he loves working for treats and still enjoys learning new things. He is an independent character who likes his walks and a run off lead in our paddock.”
