A cat has been dumped in a box at the side of the road near a Rhymney church.
The white cat – aged around 10 months – was found in the early hours of this morning (Wednesday 22 November) on Price Street, Rhymney, Tredegar near St David’s Church.
RSPCA inspector Izzy Hignell said: “It’s unknown how long she would have been there on her own in the box outside in the cold and wet weather, but luckily she was found and taken inside to safety.
“There is no CCTV in the area and she is not microchipped so we are not sure who she belongs to.”
The cat – nicknamed Mary – has now been taken to RSPCA’s Merthyr Tydfil clinic for a veterinary check up.
Inspector Hignell said: “She is eating and drinking well but she does have some fluey symptoms and is a bit wheezy. It could be down to being outside in the awful weather, so hopefully she will recover quickly. She’s a really sweet cat and she has one green eye one blue eye.
“It appears that she has been abandoned – just dumped like rubbish. It’s heartbreaking.
“If anyone has any information please could they call us on the RSPCA’s inspectorate appeal line on 0300 123 8018.”
