RSPCA Cymru is braced for thousands of calls this festive season as it launches its Kindness at Christmas Appeal to help care for abused, neglected and sick animals.

During December last year and January (2017), 5,932 incidents were reported to the RSPCA in Wales with 141 of those happening across Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

A cat has been found hanged from a 6ft fence by a dressing gown cord at a Manchester church.

 

The white and ginger cat appeared to be healthy and the RSPCA is urging his owner, and anyone with any information, to get in touch.

The shocking discovery was made by a churchgoer heading to a service at Moston Spiritual Church on Church Lane, Moston just after 7pm on Monday night (20 November).

A cat has been dumped in a box at the side of the road near a Rhymney church.

The white cat – aged around 10 months – was found in the early hours of this morning (Wednesday 22 November) on Price Street, Rhymney, Tredegar near St David’s Church.

These two poorly kittens, pictured below, were abandoned in a plastic bag and left to die on disused wasteland in Birmingham.

The cats, who were struggling to breathe when they were found, were dumped alongside two newborn kittens – still with their umbilical cords attached – on land in Slade Road, Erdington, Birmingham, on Friday, 17 November.

Sadly, the two kittens suffering from cat flu – aged around eight weeks old – were too poorly to survive.

The RSPCA’s Stapeley Grange wildlife centre and cattery is holding its annual Christmas Fair to raise much-needed funds.
